
Sarutal Trek – Complete Detailed Itinerary

Base Camp: Sankri
Day 1: Dehradun to Sankri (Base Camp)
The journey begins early morning from Dehradun Railway Station. Transport will be arranged between 6:00 AM to 7:00 AM. On the way, you pass through Mussoorie, famously known as the “Queen of Hills,” followed by a stop at Kempty Falls for breakfast.
Next, the route follows the scenic Yamuna River. You’ll take a lunch break at Purola, a small market town known for its peaceful surroundings. After lunch, you continue the journey to reach Naitwar Forest Check Post. Carry your Aadhar card as it’s mandatory for forest entry.
Finally, you arrive at Sankri, the base camp. This is a beautiful village that serves as a starting point for over 25 treks. After checking into your homestay, enjoy evening snacks and a detailed trek briefing. End the day with a delicious dinner and rest in your cozy rooms.
Day 2: Sankri to Kedarkantha Base Camp via Juda Ka Talab
Wake up to a serene mountain morning. Tea is served at 6:00 AM, followed by breakfast at 7:30 AM. The trek starts at 8:30 AM. Initially, you walk through the Sankri village and get stunning views of Swargarohini Peaks.
The trail passes wooden houses in Saur Village and continues through points like Goteka, Boiroka Ligudiya, Posla, and Juda Ka Talab, a stunning high-altitude lake. From here, continue your ascent through thick pine forests to reach Kedarkantha Base Camp.
On arrival, enjoy hot lunch and panoramic views of surrounding peaks. Evening tea and soup are served. Relax and prepare for the summit day. Dinner is served in the dining tent.
Day 3: Kedarkantha Base to Summit and Trek to Dunda Thach

Time Required: 6 to 7 hours
Summit Altitude: 3,800 meters
Camp Altitude: 3,200 meters (Dunda Thach)
Mode of Journey: On foot
Night Stay: Tent (Twin Sharing)
Start the day at 4:30 AM with light breakfast. Headlamps are essential for the early summit push. The 1.5 km ascent to the summit offers breathtaking views, especially at sunrise.
At the summit, visit the small temple of Lord Shiva and Lord Ganesha. Enjoy panoramic views of snow-covered Himalayan peaks like Bandarpoonch, Black Peak, and Swargarohini.
After soaking in the views, descend and take the right trail to Dunda Thach. Reach the campsite by evening. Enjoy hot food and spend the night in tents.
Day 4: Dunda Thach to Taloti Thach
After breakfast, begin your trek to Taloti Thach. En route, visit a small shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva, Parvati, and Ganesha. The trail is moderately difficult with a few steep sections.
Taloti is a sprawling green meadow with majestic Himalayan views. Set up camp here, enjoy freshly prepared meals, and spend the night under the stars.
Day 5: Taloti to Sarutal Lake
The trail includes gentle walks and a few ascents. You’ll cross multiple ridges and meadows before reaching the pristine glacial lake, Sarutal.
Located amidst alpine meadows, Sarutal offers spectacular views of Bandarpoonch, Swargarohini, Black Peak, Bali Pass, and Dhauladhar Kandi Pass. This is a photographer’s paradise. Set up camp near the lake and enjoy a peaceful night.
Day 6: Sarutal to Taloti Thach (Return)
Retrace your steps back to Taloti Thach. Enjoy the downhill journey through ridges and lush green meadows. Reach the familiar campsite, enjoy evening snacks and hot dinner.
Day 7: Taloti Thach to Taluka – Drive to Sankri
Trek Distance: 13 km (Trek) + 11 km (Drive)
Time Required: 6 to 7 hours trek + 1 to 2 hours drive
Altitude: Sankri – 1,920 meters
Mode of Journey: On foot + Taxi
Night Stay: Hotel (Twin Sharing)
This is your last trekking day. The descent from Taloti to Taluka is through dense forests. The trail is steep at places, so descend with caution.
Langurs and other mountain wildlife are commonly spotted. After reaching Taluka village, your vehicle will be waiting to drive you back to Sankri.
Check into your hotel, enjoy a warm bath, evening snacks, and a celebratory dinner with the group.
Day 8: Sankri to Dehradun
After your last breakfast with the Green Valley Himalayas team, receive your trek completion certificates. Capture final photos with the group and bid farewell.
The vehicle departs early to reach Dehradun by evening.
